Meridian Knowledge Solutions' Founders
In 1997, Jennifer Beers, David DeVaux, Elizabeth Harris, Malcolm Patel and Paul Somerville founded Meridian KSI, now known as Meridian Knowledge Solutions LLC. Our founders brought together their know-how and determination to develop and sell learning management system (LMS) software that would capitalize on the growing market for e-learning. From the beginning, Meridian's founders aimed to build a product that was more about what customers wanted than what Meridian thought customers should have. Our founders' entrepreneurial spirit and tenacity helped Meridian become a multi-million dollar business with hundreds of employees and blue-chip customers across the United States.
Our founders' guiding principles built a collaborative culture that remains today, and has led to Meridian winning numerous industry awards for its software and customer service.
In 2006, Meridian's co-founders agreed to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Visionary Integration Professionals, a global technology and outsourcing firm.
According to Paul Somerville, Meridian's founders were looking for a strong partner with deep expertise in business intelligence and analytics as well as world-class enterprise integration experience.
"While we considered alliances as an alternative, we decided a long-term strategic partner with 'skin in the game' was better for our customers," said Somerville.
In 2008, after a two-year transition in which Meridian's founders turned over management of the company to a new generation of Meridian executives, DeVaux, Harris, Patel and Somerville left to pursue new interests. However, each one remains available to Meridian as a consultant on various facets of the company's business as well as the learning-technologies industry.
Jennifer Beers continues to be a Meridian employee, passionately developing future versions of the Meridian Global LMS. She charts the company's product roadmap. And her unique vision for the LMS has helped Meridian garner dozens of awards for software excellence, including a Meritorious Unit Citation for the Defense Intelligence Agency.
